The internet:

If you need to use the Internet, you should obtain a Etislat SIM card in UAE (super easy you can get them in the airport) and it works in some places here (the “capital” and a few spots here and there)

Visa:

We handle the visa for you. The fee covers all the logistics, paperwork and man power it takes to obtain. You will receive it within two weeks of your departure.

Is Socotra safe?

Socotra is and has always been conflict free. The civil war never came close to the island. Socotra is very far away from the rest of Yemen.

Device Charging:

We suggest you bring a power bank with you BUT we will have car chargers in the 4×4 Toyota Land Cruisers for you to use
(USB-C, iPhone, mini USB) We know pictures, videos and drone shots are important so we make it easy to recharge your devices.

What’s the best way to travel there?

Currently the only flight option to Socotra is the charter direct route from Abu Dhabi and also another way from Cairo to Aden then Socotra.

What to pack?

Accessories:

  • Sun glasses
  • Sun lotion
  • Sun hat/ head cover (wide brimmed is great for sun protection)
  • Head torch (will be very handy on overnight camping and when visiting caves)
  • Camera
  • Comfortable walking shoes or trekking sandals (sharp stones are common also on some beaches)
  • Comfortable, informal, light cloths (remember this is a Muslim country)
  • You might prefer your own personal equipment for snorkeling and a spare T-shirt to avoid sunburns on your back while swimming
  • Jumper, wind-cheater and thick socks if you camp overnight on the mountains
  • Lightweight sleeping bag
  • Repellent for mosquitoes on the sunset.
  • Wet wipes or similar tissues for personal hygiene.
  • Take necessary precautions for passport and valuables.
  • You need cash since there is no ATM on the island and credit cards are not accepted. (Plz note that the money notes of US Dollars must be issued from 2009 and onward).
  • Toothpaste and brash
  • Good reading book
  • Small personal bottle for drinking water

Bags:

  • Large luggage – we recommended something easy to carry such as a large rucksack - Dry small bag - for your electronics and passport and valuables items.
